Santiago Climent
“Painting, for me, is a need for freedom — something I cannot achieve through music itself.”
Biography
Santiago Climent Pastor (Gaianes, Alicante, 1983) is a self-taught painter, musician, and composer.
Since childhood, he has felt a deep attraction to painting, influenced by his father’s landscape works.
Although his path began in music —as a band director and composer— he found in painting a freer way to express what sound could not convey.
His work blends the primitive and the contemporary, using mixed media, inks, wood, and organic materials. In his book CATALEG, inspired by prehistoric art, he recreates hunting scenes, prehistoric animals, and moments of everyday life, exploring the origins of symbol and emotion.
Climent understands art as an instinctive language that connects with the inner truth of the human being.
Since his first solo exhibition at the Museo de la Almazara (Gaianes, 2022), he has participated in international art fairs and exhibitions (Times Square – New York, ArtBox Switzerland, Paris, Madrid, Palma) and collaborates with several galleries across Spain.

About the exhibition
In Instinct and Memory, Santiago Climent invites us to explore the different dimensions of the human experience:
the ancestral, as a memory that still beats within us;
the instinctive, that animal side which feels without thinking;
the collective, the noise of the world; and
the sensitive, solitude, fragility, the inward gaze.
Between the primitive and the contemporary, the artist builds his own language, exploring gesture, texture, and emotion as a form of inner search, a continuous study of his own path.
Rather than focusing on symmetry or formal perfection, Climent seeks to capture the intensity of the moment, the living trace of the process, the shadows of worn faces, and the hidden movement behind each scene.
Instinct and memory is, in short, a visual journey where memory and instant meet to show that which endures beyond both.
